over the past few years mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) research has become a major challenge for therapeutic applications in tissue repair both in human and in animals. As undifferentiated stem cells can differentiate into several cell types, stem cell-based therapy represents the most recent treatment adopted by international veterinary community in USA and United Kingdom for tendon and bone injury repair. Early results of the clinical cases in Italy regarding stem cell therapies in horse tissue repair are encouraging.
