Services Overview
The development, standardization and harmonization of new molecular biology-based methods in the field of food safety and traceability is a necessity recognized at European and International levels. At national level there currently are no officially recognized methods in the area of allergens, animal identification and traceability. For pathogen detection some officially-recognized methods exist, although are based upon traditional non-PCR based methods. Nonetheless, PCR based methods are also used in microbiology laboratory to sensitively and rapidly screen samples before confirming positive results by means of official and certified methods. Our purpose is to develop, standardize and certify innovative methods and to offer them to firms working in the food and agriculture domains, from producers to distributors and consumer associations. As a first step, we have set up a quality system to ensure that our services meet the quality standards required by our customers.
PGP always tries to offer to users innovative solutions in the area of food safety and traceability; when the clients request cannot be fulfilled with the available certified assays, a pilot project is implemented to develop a customized, innovative diagnostic kit; the general workflow involves:
1. Client request/submission
2. Pilot project for assay development
3. Assay standardization and validation
4. SINAL 17025 accreditation of the assay
